'Ripening' by Kat Healy (2024)
A new multi-discipline creative project by Scottish singer-songwriter and artist Kat Healy. 'Ripening' is a collection of original poetry, songs and original art inspired by Scottish folklore. Following a three-year COVID hiatus, Kat will be releasing her latest project and performing at some of her favourite folk and speakeasy venues in the UK throughout 2024.
Kat Healy is a singer-songwriter, a painter and a poet, hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland – and a previously selected winner at the CalMac Music Awards 2016 - described as a combination of well-crafted songs, beautiful voice and delightful stage presence, “Nothing short of enchanting” (****FATEA Magazine 2014).
Since her previous releases ‘When You Are Gone’ (2014), 'Wolf' (2016), ‘Perfect’ (2017), ‘Believer’ (2018), and 'Advent' (2020), Healy has toured successfully throughout the UK and Europe, with a number of high profile gigs, including support performances for the legendary singer-songwriter Horse at The Queens Hall (Edinburgh), MacRoberts Theatre (Stirling), Adam Smith Theatre (Kirkcaldy). She has also enjoyed supports for The Staves, Joshua Radin, Sharon Corr, Passenger, Amy MacDonald and Alex Cornish, as well as notable appearances at Folk Alliance International, New York’s infamous Rockwood Music Hall, Belfast's The Empire and a number of Scottish music summer festivals.
Healy has also landed several performance features on Scotland’s STV channel and BBC Radio Scotland, including a live studio session with Janice Forsyth and Grant Stott (BBC The Janice Forsyth Show). 2019 saw Kat and guitarist Dan Crichton enjoy a one-off special BBC Scotland in-studio acoustic performance for the Moon Landing Centenary - singing songs about the moon.
